JAMMU, June 1: Dr Aziz Hajni, Secretary Cultural Academy, Jammu, Dr Quleen Kaur Bijral, noted musician and columnist and Rohit Verma, a well known painter, cultural activist and columnist were conferred Rasa Javedani Award for their contribution to the field of art, culture and languages.
Dr. Aziz Hajni was Awarded Rasa Award for the year 2018, while Dr Quleen Kaur Bijral and Rohit Verma were awarded for the year 2017 and 2016 respectively.
The awards were presented in a grand function organized on the occasion of 39th death anniversary of legendary Urdu and Kashmiri poet late Rasa Javedani, here today at the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
The function was organized by Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society and PG Department of Urdu, JU, under the aegis of Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Head of Department and president Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society.
Author of 18 books in Kashmiri, Dr Aziz Hajni has worked for the upliftment of Kashmiri language and literature tremendously. He is associated with the various cultural and literary organizations working for the cause of Kashmiri language in the State. Presently Dr Hajni is working as Secretary of Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Dr Quleen Kaur Bijral is a well known musician as well as columnist who writes on burning issues and concerns in the daily newspaper like Daily Excelsior. She has also been promoted as Bureau Chief, The Logical Indian, an Online Media publishing India. Recently, Dr Quleen published a novel titled The Witch Some Witch, Partridge India, a Penguin Company, which has been accepted in reputed universities of India. She has been a brilliant alumnus of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra where she pursued Masters in English and later PhD. in Indian Writings in English.
Rohit Verma is a well known cultural activist. He is writing regularly on various issues of culture of the State. Rohit is also a well known painter who has attended nearly 40 national camps. His paintings have been widely recognized and commended nationwide. It is pertinent to mention here that Rasa Javedani Award is given every year to a person who contributes for the promotion of Art, Culture and Languages. The award constituted a memento, shawl and citation.
