Azad for cash relief, free shifting of workers

JAMMU, May 28: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Union Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad today demanded cash assistance for the poor workers and others who are not tax payers and free transport facilities for the labourers stranded across the country amid lockdown due to COVID-19.
In a press statement today, Azad said that Coronavirus pandemic has caused serious destruction in our country and the entire world. The labour class people and farmers have been badly affected with it. He said the Congress Party was repeatedly demanding financial assistance for the poor labourers, small farmers and other workers who are facing lot of hardships due to this pandemic.
Azad said the Congress Party has today again urged upon the Modi Govt to provide Rs 7500 cash assiatnce to the poor workers, labourers and all others who are not tax prayers as they are unable to feed their families under these circumstances. Moreover, they should be provided Rs 10,000 assistance for the first month. The Govt should provide cash assiatnce and loans to the small handicrafts workers or other people running their own shall units.
The AICC leader further said that under MGNREGA Scheme, the Government should provide work to the poor labour class people for 200 days this year, instead of 100 days work. He also demanded free transport facility for the labourers stranded at various places across the country. Azad said it is collective responsibility of every one to raise the voice for these people and support Congress campaign.
