Azad attacks BJP, others for promoting politics of hatred

JAMMU, Mar 15: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that politics of hatred was dangerous for the country and it is unfortunate that some political groups were promoting such campaign for their vested interests.
Launching veiled attack on the main rival party, BJP and other groups during rallies at Poonch and Surankote today, the senior AICC leader said that developmental activities initiated by the UPA led Government and major decisions taken for the people of the country are visible on the ground but the people should not get carried away by the negative forces who are trying to create division and hatred which is dangerous for the broader interests of the nation.
Without naming BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said that people must beware of the designs of such parties which are playing politics of hatred and division. The Congress party which is known for its secular credentials would defeat the communal forces exploiting people for their vested interests. Those dreaming of becoming  Prime Minister will see only dreams and the Congress party believes in reality.
Seeking support of the people for Congress candidate Madan Lal Sharma Mr Azad said that so-called Modi wave was creation of a section of media but on ground there was Congress wave in country. He said that people will vote on the development works done by the Government. He reiterated that the country has witnessed tremendous development in all spheres of life under the UPA regime in the past 10 years including in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad cautioned the people against malicious campaign launched against UPA Government. He said that there was a need of strengthen parties like Congress at national level to encouraging democratic and secular forces. He said emergence of divisive forces was against brotherhood and national integration of the country. He said that the politics of the hatred is a dangerous campaign and urged the people to reject the communal and divisive forces and strengthen the secular and progressive forces in order to strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation and the State.
The AICC leader said that foundation of this country has been laid on secular ideals which is strength of our nation and we should not allow to weaken this at any cost and urged the people to reject such kind of forces who are posing threat to the secular fabric of the nation. He also referred to the numerous achievements of the Coalition Government in the State by the liberal funding of UPA Government and appealed to people to vote in favour of coalition candidates in the State.
While speaking on the occasion, PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz said that protecting people’s wishes and aspirations were priority of the Congress party. He said it was historical fact that Congress had always protected interest of the all sections of the society. Prof Soz termed the 73rd amendment in Panchayati Raj Act and creation of new administrative units great achievements of the Coalition Government in the State and said that equal treatment has been accorded to all the regions and sub-regions of the State. He pointed out that there occurred some differences within coalition partners in the recent past over some public issues, but at present there was nothing like this and the coalition was working in close coordination.
He said that Congress led UPA Government in the Centre has been providing liberal finance assistance and special packages to the State of Jammu and Kashmir for its faster development and progress in every sphere of life and asked the people especially the Panchayat representatives to act as watch-dog over the implementation of Central schemes.
Congress candidate and two times MP, Madan Lal Sharma also spoke on the occasion and said that Congress is the only secular party which can take all sections of society equally. He cautioned the hilly populace from nefarious designs of certain political parties that want to divide the people on communal lines. He also  said that the democracy can be strengthened by empowering the Panchayati Raj Institutions on the pattern of 73rd Amendment.
He further said that Congress will ensure these institutions get due rights to serve the people at the grass root level. He said that Congress alone can ensure equitable development in all three regions and justice to people of all faiths and religion on the path of secularism.
Minister for Planning  and senior NC leader Ajay Sadhotra in his address urged the people to strengthen the hands of NC-Congress coalition and urged the people and  workers of both the parties to work for the success of coalition candidates. He highlighted the achievements of Omar led Coalition Government in the State.
Devender Singh Rana, provincial president of National Conference and MLC said that the success of coalition candidates is necessary to defeat the divisive forces and strengthen the bonds of unity and integrity of the State. He highlighted that it is the wish and direction of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that all the candidates of coalition partners must win the Lok Sabha seats in a big way. He urged the party workers to launch a co-ordinated campaign for the success of coalition candidates in the State.
Prominent among others who addressed rallies included vice chairman Gujjar-Bakerwal Board Ch Bashir Naz, Vice chairman OBCs Board Kuldip Raj Verma, MLA  Aijaz Jan, MLA Indu Pawar, MLCs Jahangir Mir and Dr Shehnaz Ganai, Mushtaq Bukhari,  Dr Rashid Choudhary & Manmohgan Singh (gen secys), Shahnawaj Choudhary PYC chief also addressed the gathering.
