JAMMU, Apr 29: A cancer and osteoporosis detection week, currently underway at Military Hospital, Ambala Cantonment from April 25 to April 29, is being organized under Kharga AWWA, as part of the commemoration of Golden Jubilee of Army Wives Welfare Association.
The aim of the event which was inaugurated on Veena Narawane, Zonal president, Kharga AWWA, is to reach out to the Army wives and `Veer Naaris’ in and around Ambala and make them aware of the two most common cancers afflicting the women of today.
In addition to imparting knowledge on the early symptoms of cervical and breast cancer, screening tests for the same are also being conducted for the ladies in the targeted age group. Tests for estimate of Vitamin D for screening osteoporosis cases, which is a common cause for bone related ailments, are also being conducted as part of the detection week.
