JAMMU, Dec 7: Anganwari Workers Welfare Association (AWWA), Jammu today highlighted the demands of the Anganwari workers and helpers in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of association president, Swarna Choudhary.
The demands highlighted in the meeting include Rs 15000 per month salary for Anganwari workers and Rs 10,000 per month for helpers, providing benefit of all social security schemes like EPF, ESI and pension scheme to them, payment of fuel charges, TA, DA and pending salary, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Swarna Choudhary said that the Anganwari workers and helpers are working since 1978 in the State but they are being paid meager amount of Rs 3500 per month and Rs 1800 per month, respectively. “It is a cruel joke with these Anganwari workers and helpers, who are doing their job honestly”, she said and criticized the Government for ignoring their genuine demands.
Meanwhile, the association decided to hold a protest in support of their demands in front of Press Club, Jammu on December 26.
