JAMMU, Dec 7: Rich tributes were paid to Bharat Rattana Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar on his 61st Mahaparinirvan Divas.
All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations in collaboration with Nami Dogri Sanstha observed 61st Mahaparinirvaan Divas of Dr BR Ambedkar wherein speakers from different walks of life spoke on life and achievements of Dr Ambedkar and also paid their tributes to him at KL Sehgal Hall.
The programme commenced with a Bhim Vandana which was presented by children of BR Ambedkar School.
Setting an inclusive agenda, RK Kalsotra, President, All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations in his inaugural address said that this was for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir State that a platform was provided to listen to views of people from different walks of life and section of society other than dalits. He also threw light on the life and teachings of Dr Ambedkar.
Among others, who spoke were KL Bhatia, Advocate Sheikh Shakil, Advocate Ashok Basotra, Retd IFS Rup Bharti, writer Sunny Dua, Bureaus Chief, Times Now Pradeep Dutta, Director Doordarshan Anjali Sharma, HOD Political Science Dr Rekha Choudhary, Scholar Nisha Bhagat, Senior Citizen President Abdul Majeed Bichoo, MD Group of Ambedkar School Gian Chand Dogra, Father Kuriakose Catholic Church Priest, President Adi Kunj Sham Talib, Om Dalmotra, Captain Lalit Sharma and President Nami Dogri Sanstha Dr Harish Kaila. The programme was conducted by Dr Chanchal Sharma and Yash Pal Yash.
All J&K SC and ST Retired Forum paid tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar by organizing a seminar on the Principles and Contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar for the upliftment of the depressed sections of the society. The seminar was held under the chairmanship of Prof GL Thapa, President of the Forum. TC Bavouria, Organising Secretary of the Forum presented the welcome address. During the function, various speakers including GL Bhagat, Retd Foreman, Er JR Aryan, Retd Ex Engineer, Ashok Basotra Advocate, Biru Ram, Retd Captain, Kesar Singh, Retd ADG Postal Services, Tarsem Lal Mulnivasi, Retd CEO, RL Bharti, Member J&K PSC (Retd) and Er HR Phonsa, Retd Ex Engineer spoke on the principles and contribution of Dr Ambedkar for the upliftment of the society in general and down trodden sections in particular. The programme ended with vote of thanks by ML Hand, Additional DG GSI (Retd).
Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad observed death anniversary of Dr B.R Ambedkar in various departments of Jammu University such as Law Department, Law School, Education Department, School of Bio Technology and Central Library in which hundreds of students paid tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion Pulkit Churangoo, President of the ABVP Jammu University threw light on the life of Dr Ambedkar. Ravail Parihar, Secretary ABVP JU Unit, Daleep Singh, Convener , Suyash and Sudershan, Joint Secretaries , Ramneek, Vice president, Mayank Abrol, Akash Vaid, State Joint Secretary Abhinav Pandotra and ABVP Jammu Mahanagar Secretary Deepak Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Udhampur Unit of Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad paid rich tributes to Dr BR Ambadker on his death anniversary. A program was organized in the premises of Government Degree College Udhampur in which a large number of students, teaching staff and Principal were present. While addressing, Principal of the College has expressed that Dr BR Ambadker has played a vital role in the society for equality and social justice by given a written constitution to the Country. He appealed the youth to follow the path and valuable thoughts of great author of Constitution of India. Gourav Singh Bagri, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Deepak Kumar, Rakesh Singh and Raju were the main organizers of the function from ABVP Unit of Udhampur.
