JAMMU, Feb 27: A deputation of Anganwari Workers’ Welfare Association (AWWA) today met Minister for Social Welfare Department, Sajad Lone, and submitted him a memorandum of its demands.
The deputation, which was led by Subhash Verma, president, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Ashok Choudhary, general secretary, BMS, and Swarna Devi, president, (AWWA), submitted a charter of demands of the association to the Minister and thereafter threadbare discussion on each and every demand of the workers was held between the Minister and deputation members.
The main demands of the association are enhancement of wages of Anganwari workers and helpers, releasing of pending wages, conduct of DPC without any delay, social security benefits, etc.
The Minister assured the deputation that all the demands of the association will be solved shortly in a phased manner. He also advised the deputation members to perform their duties honestly and with more efficiency for the smooth running of Anganwari centres.
Neelam Sharma, general secretary of AWWA, and other members including Anjana Kumari, Amrit Prabha, Rekha Devi, Koshaliya Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, Kiran Kumari and Chint Purni were also part of the deputation.
