JAMMU, Apr 5: An awareness programme was organized in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Boys’ Hostel, Old University Campus, Canal Road, here today in collaboration with Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE).
Dean Research Studies, Prof Jigar Mohammad was the chief guest on the occasion.
Warden of the hostel, Prof Lalit Sen Sharma presented the welcome address, while Rumpy Madaan, Chairperson sensitized the participants to be compassionate to the stray animals.
The programme included the introduction to animal welfare by Ravi Puri, former secretary Red Cross, session on the knowledge about rabies by Tauseef Ahmed, first aid tips for helping neighborhood animals by Shweta Sood, Member of Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations, New Delhi and awareness about animal rights and law enforcement by Senior Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed.
MLC Vikram Randhawa was the special guest, whereas Taranjit Singh, Patron Member of SAVE, Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Provost Boys’ Hostels, Gurvinder Kaur, Member SAVE and Dr Tirath Ram, Resident Warden of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Boys’ Hostel were also present.
