POONCH, May 4: On the direction of Transport Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, awareness camps on road safety and Motor Vehicle Rules were organized at Shiendra, Surankote and Chandimarh in the district.
Drivers, Helpers, Panchs, Sarpanchs, vehicle owners and others attended these mobile camps, which were addressed by ARTO Poonch Rajesh Gupta who asked the gathering to follow Motor Vehicle rules for their own safety and other people also.
The ARTO particularly appealed the driver not to use mobile phones while driving and avoid over speeding. He extended all cooperation from the Transport authorities for issuance of letter of authority, driving license and other certificates.
During the camps, 20 vehicles were also challaned for violation of different rules of the Motor Vehicle Act.
A similar awareness camp was organized at Mandi few days ago.
