JAMMU, Feb 13: Aarakshan Virodhi Manch (AVM) today warned political leaders and ex-representatives to shun discrimination with general category people or be ready to face music in forthcoming elections.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ram Paul Seth, president, AVM Jammu, strongly opposed the caste based reservation and special concessions based on casteism religion and regions, saying it has divided the people of the nation at large, made the divisive forces strong and is a great burden on the exchequers resources and poor taxpayers of the nation.
“Even after 70 years of the independence the demand for inclusion of more and more castes, religions and regions based Reservation is increasing. People protesting on the streets, blocking roads, stopping trains, causing damage to the public and private property even they don’t spare the Ambulances and other essential transport services. Protesters create a lot of chaos thereby putting innocent public and the law enforcing agencies of the nation in great trouble and take the nation for granted. It is all because of the menace of the reservation,” he added.
Yashpal said some forces are putting stress upon the Government for continuation of “Reservation in Promotions” which has already been struck down by the High Court of J&K. He said it is surprising that some of the Ex-MLAS and Ministers of the reserved category are also supporting reservation in promotions. “They shouldn’t forget that in their reserved constituencies people of the general category are also residing and have also voted them to power,” He added.
Jagdish Sharma, president, Ramnagar constituency unit of AVM, said that politicians of India must learn lesson from Prime minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, who took bold step of abolishing reservation and won 290 seats out of 300.
Madan Lai Narad, general secretary, AVM warned the ex-representatives to stop step motherly treatment towards the people of general category and treat all people equally. Still if you don’t change the attitude then be ready to face the consequences in the forthcoming election.
