JAMMU, Sept 7: Calling upon people to avail maximum benefit from welfare schemes, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said in order to address welfare requirements of different strata of society and to encourage youth, a number of initiatives have been taken by the Government.
He said “it is duty of the administration as well as local panchayat representatives to make sure that details of these schemes reach to every nook and corner of the State, so that benefit reaches to the last beneficiary.”
Mr Tara Chand was addressing a public meeting at Khour.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Government is committed to take the development revolution to all parts of the state and special care has been taken to address the infrastructure requirements of border and rural pockets of the state. He said to improve power infrastructure in the area a grid station has come up at Kaleeth at a cost of Rs 50 crore and would soon be dedicated to public.
He said people should be made aware of Government policies and programs so as to keep a check on the nefarious designs of those who work for derailing the process of peace and development.
He said besides launching mega-infrastructure development projects all across the state, exemplary welfare schemes in different sectors have been launched in the state, adding that welfare initiatives like SKEWPY, MGNREGA, welfare schemes for weaker sections, elders, migrants, widows and those living below poverty line are well serving their purpose .
Underlining role of the flagship SKEWPY scheme in addressing unemployment in the state, Mr. Tara Chand said youth should take maximum benefit from the scheme to be budding entrepreneurs, adding that need of the hour is to look beyond Government sector for employment and develop those skills which have good market potential.
Complementing people for two cluster model villages in the area, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Central Government is giving liberal funding to the State and the model villages would go a long way in upgrading socio-economic profile of the people of the area.
He said the Government endeavors to improve rural infrastructure in shape of better lanes, drains, roads and public facilities at par with those available in the cities and urban centers.
Taking note of the matter of de-mining of agriculture land brought up by the people, Mr. Tara Chand directed the SDM to take up the matter with the Army and ensure that all the land which has been cleared of the mines be handed over for use besides marking of left over land for early de-mining.
