JAMMU, Nov 27: Criticizing National Conference leaders for their wild cries to repeat their old rhetorics to avoid accountability for their non performance and indulgence in search of excuse to shift their responsibility for failure to fulfill popular aspirations of the State, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma has said that Jammu demands restoration of its dignity and justice.
Addressing public meetings at Bhardal and Gandharwan in Akhnoor today Mr Sharma described NC’s demand for Autonomy as irrelevant since the overwhelming participation of people of militancy affected State in democratic process has substantiated Congress stand that people of the three regions need development, progress and prosperity, least bothered about any political gimmicks either from NC or BJP or others. Mr Sharma said security matters and ground level situations should be left at the discretion of those who are responsible for maintenance of security and law & order.
Highlighting his party pledge the Congress leader said alone Congress addressed the popular aspirations of the Jammu in particular and promised Regional Development Council empowered by the Constitutional necessities and special package/reservation to residents at international border and one time settlement to DPs/Refugees of PoJK for whom the recommended proposal already sent to Central Government. Unfortunately, it is rejected by BJP led Government with ulterior motives.
Mr Sharma claimed that his performances during 12 years to develop Akhnoor and provide all kinds of amenities such as Higher Education, Drinking Water, Health Services, Roads Connectivity, Power and agricultural inputs has visible impact which requires continuing efforts and he on merits appealed for overwhelming support. He urged upon the women voters to caste vote in his favour adjudging his performance.
Sham Lal said that he has vision for making Akhnoor as model constituency and provided administrative units including like Sub District status to Chowki Choura, Tehsils for Chowki Choura, Jourian and Maira Mandrian, Niabat at Chowki Choura, Rah Salyote, Ghar Majoor, Kathar, Bhalwal Brahmana and Devipur. He provided Development Blocks at Mandrian and Bhalwal Brahmana.
Mr Sharma cautioned people to remain vigilant from such elements whom they rejected in the past.
