NEW DELHI: Attorney-General KK Venugopal on Saturday expressed hope that the crisis triggered off by virtual rebellion of four sitting judges of the Supreme Court would be over soon.
“Let’s hope everything goes down very well,” Mr Venugopal told reporters here. The Attorney-General, Government’s top legal mind, on Friday had called on the Chief Justice Dipak Misra shortly after four sitting judges Justice Jasti Chelameswar, flanked by Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Madan Lokur and Kurian Joseph said they wanted to put across their side to the media on the problems of administrative inadequacies in the court.
They also said the problem in administration in the highest court of the land could lead to “threat to democracy” in India.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association said the media outburst of the sitting judges has only “created doubts” in people’s mind.
“If they had to come for a press conference then they should have said something substantial.
Just creating doubts in the minds of people will not serve the interest of the judiciary.
This was not properly planned,” Vikas Singh of the Supreme Court Bar Association told reporters here. (AGENCIES)
