RAJOURI, Feb 4: In a night operation carried out in Kalakote Range of Rajouri Forest Division, the Forest Department team foiled an attempt to encroach its land by some people in Kalakote area.
The information was received late night by Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri Dr. Arshdeep Singh, that some persons have engaged JCB machine at Broh village in Compartment No. 123/K of Kalakote Range. The team of Forest officials was pressed into action.
The team under the supervision of Block Officer Kalakote, Nissar Hussain and Block Officer Sial Sui, Mehboob Ahmed conducted a night raid and seized one JCB machine being used in felling trees and cutting forest land. The JCB machine was immediately seized and brought to Forest Complex, Kalakote for safe custody.
The entire operation was monitored by Conservator of Forests West Circle, Rajouri B. Mohan Das. Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri has initiated proceedings for confiscation under Indian Forest Act, 1929 and instructions have been passed to act strictly against encroachers.
