Attempt to murder case accused arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Mar 10: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested an attempt to murder case accused along with heroin valuing Rs 1.50 lakh.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka at Model Town during the intervening night of March 9 and 10 and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JKO2AF-2158, which was coming from Bari Brahmana towards Model town.
On seeing police cops, the biker tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 15 grams of heroin valuing Rs 1.50 lakh from the possession of the biker and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Ranjit Singh Choudhary alias Rinku, son of Jasbir Singh, a resident of Model Town, Gangyal.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu City.
The arrested person was a famous drug peddler of Model Town, Gangyal and with his arrest, police saved the future of the youth from becoming drug addicts.
Moreover, a case under FIR Number 62/17 under Section 307, 382, 341 and 323 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act stands registered against the accused at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
A fresh case under FIR Number 20/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali and Incharge Greater Kailash Police Post SI Vicky Thappa made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
