KATRA, May 24: Katra Police today foiled an attempt of liquor smuggling to the holy town and seized 150 pouches of illicit liquor.
A Police team from Police Station Katra, led by SHO Arvind Sambyal, under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Ashok Sharma, was on patrolling duty in general area of Nomain, Deva Mai, Sarna etc when its intercepted a Maruti Car No.JK02N/2901 at Sarna. On seeing the police party, driver of the said car fled away from the spot leaving behind his vehicle in middle of the road. During checking, Police team recovered 150 Poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the said vehicle. The recovered poly pouches of liquor alongwith vehicle were seized on spot while a case FIR No. 90/2017 U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC has been registered in this connection at P/S Katra.
