Athrot organises Kashmiri poetry day for youngsters

JAMMU, Oct 27: Athrot an organization of displaced artists and writers organized its first ever Kashmiri Poetry day in 29 years of exile with youngsters today at Sanskriti Bhawan Roop Nagar near. here.
Seven young poets presented poems reflecting exile consciousness. The noted poets and renowned writers applauded Athrot and youngsters on the occasion.
The programme started with Guru Vandana sung by Punya Koul an 11 year old girl from Bantalab followed by a Bhajan by Paviter Koul, a 13 year boy. This was followed by a duet bhajan Meaj Sharikye Kar Daya. Ocean Tikku, Ayueshman Koul, Triveni Siddah, Shiw Bhat, Rohit Pandit, Jatin Pandit, recited there Kashmiri poems before the audience. It was first time in exile that a young bunch of KP children where given opportunity to display there talent. Dr Agnishekhar a well known scholar and convener Panun Kashmir, presided over the poetic session while J N Sagar, Prem Nath Shad, B K Sanyasi, GK Mujoo, Gopi Kishan, Prof P N Trisal, Ashok Gowher, Tej Sagar , Kundan Paras, where part of workshop who praised children for choosing to be poets and writing poems in Kashmiri.
Mahraj Krishan Jotshi, Virender Kuchroo, Ravi Mahaldar were amongst the guests. Ashutost Pandit representing JK Blood Bank Group was honoured for saving many lives through blood donation. The vote of thanks was presented by Arvin Tickoo and programme was conducted by Kanwal Peshin. Speaking on the occasion P N Shad, BK Sanyasi, JN Sagar advised participants to read more books on Kashmir and Kashmiri literature. Dr Agnishekhar gave a detailed description of poetry and poets.
He also advised participants to recite and read Lal waakhs which will help to pronounce the words properly. He along with PN Shad offered some books from their library to young poets and blessed them.
