JAMMU, Apr 22: All Teachers’ Association J&K has expressed concern over the misuse of power by some DDOs in rating the teachers ‘performance.
In a press statement issued here, the Association stated that the current policy has lost its essence as it has been continuously being mishandled by the authorities concerned for the last two months with no accountability.
President Mrignayani Slathia said, “It is astonishing that the parameters of judging the performance of teachers and other departments are the same. The Education Department is the only department where the performance of a teacher is judged arbitrarily without any paperwork. “No doubt there is a dire need of a mechanism to review the teachers’ performance but the existing format is full of flaws having lost its relevance,” Slathia said.
The president suggested 10 basic standards for rating the teachers’ performance including learning development, learning differences, analysis of classroom artefacts, content knowledge, application of the content, planning for instructions, instructional strategies, assessment, feedback report of the students and evaluation by the students too.
