SRINAGAR: Entire opposition, including National Conference (NC), Congress and lone member of Communist Party of India (M) today staged a walk-out from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (LA) after the speaker refused to suspend Question Hour.
The trouble started immediately after Speaker Kavinder Gupta entered the House and took up the first question of the day. However, entire opposition members were on their toes, demanding that they be allowed to raise the issue of Handwara killings, NFSA and other issues.
The Opposition members stormed into the Well of House and continued slogan shouting but nothing was audible. However, when thr Speaker continued Question-Hour and did not listen to opposition, NC, Congress and lone CPI(M) member Mohammad Yousuf Targami walked out from the House.
“We are walking out since we are not being allowed to raise the issues of public importance,” the members were heard saying while leaving the House. However, Independent MLA from Langate Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who also stormed into the Well demanding discussion on Handwara killings of civilians, did not join in the walk out.
“Only faces have changed but the situation in the Kashmir remained same”, Er Rashid was heard saying when NC and Congress walked out from the House.
“Previously it was NC and Congress government killing people and doing other atrocities and PDP used to demand justice”, he said adding now PDP is repeating the same and NC and Congress are demanding justice.
Later, the opposition members returned to House after the Question-Hour was over and discussion on Motion of Tahnks on Governors address was taken up. (AGENCIES)
