Assembly panel expresses concern over delay in completion of bridges

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: The Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Legislative Assembly held its meeting here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Rajiv Jasrotia.
The Committee discussed and examined the CAG’s Report on audit paras pertaining to Public Works Department (JKPCC Ltd) for the years of 2005-06 and 2010-11.
The Committee members Mohammad Akbar Lone, Ch. Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Abid Hussain Ansari, Ch. Qamar Hussain and Surinder Kumar Ambardar attended the meeting and asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to submit a detailed report about all   liabilities with regard to incomplete works executed by the Corporation for scrutiny of the Committee members.
The Committee directed the concerned authorities to complete all major bridge projects in Chenab Valley at the earliest. The Committee showed concern over the delay in these projects as reported in audit paras and called for fixing responsibilities in this regard. It was also directed that all ongoing projects being executed by JKPCC should be completed in a time bound manner.
Commissioner Secretary PWD, Rohit Kansal and MD, JKPCC briefed the Committee about the action taken reports of the audit paras pertaining to the Corporation besides the overall functioning of JKPCC.
