Aspirants demand implementation of EWS category

Srinagar, Aug 2: Scores of aspirants today held protest demonstration demanding the implementation of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category for MBBS and BDS for the academic session of 2019-20 here.
They said that their careers are at stake as the Bill is awaiting a final nod in the Parliament due to non-seriousness of the Member Parliaments from the State in raising the issue. The aspirants said that they will be left to fend for themselves as the session is ending soon.
“The concerned MPs are not even raising the issue in the Parliament, we are suffering due to their callousness as the Bill is awaiting final nod,” Junaid Ahmad, an aspirant said.
“We NEET aspirants from the State, our issue is regarding the implementation of EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category for MBBS and BDS for the year 2019-20,” they said. The protesting aspirants said that the State Administrative Council (SAC) has approved the bill under chairmanship of Governor Satyapal Malik.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the bill on July 31. “Now the bill needs the final nod from the Parliament before August 7 as the session is going to end on that very day. Our request is to the Parliament members to raise the issue as soon as possible, so to save our future,” they said.
The aspirants demanded that the concerned should come to their rescue so that their careers are saved and they able to go for their degrees well in time.
