“After a thorough and extensive discussion as well as in-length appreciation of evidence on the touchstone of law, the Court is satisfied that prosecution has successfully proved the gruesome incident wherein the accused, displaying savagery and barbarism to the hilt, caused grievous injuries to Nazir Ahmad Deedad who lost his eyes in the acid attack besides leading to permanent disfigurement of his face and damage to other parts of the body,” Judge Parvaiz Iqbal observed.
The Court said Nazir Ahmed has been subjected to lifelong handicap and the trauma of not being able to see, independently walk and losing facial beauty.
The court further held that defense hasn’t been able to establish any alternative hypothesis during the course of trial except which points unequivocally towards the guilt of accused persons.
The Court also expressed disappointment that despite recommendation of the court to Government through DLSA for grant of some sort of relief to the victims, it was rejected.
“The system owes an apology for not coming to succour of the victim’s plight,” it observed.
