ASI dies in mishap

DODA, June 29: A 45-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police died after his car skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Galgandhar on Pul Doda-Bhaderwah national highway here today.
The deceased identified as ASI Vikram Singh, a resident of Gatha, Tehsil Bhaderwah, was attached to CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Police Station Kishtwar.
He was heading towards Kishtwar from Bhaderwah when the Alto car bearing registration number JK06A-5099 which he was driving met with accident at Galgandhar.
“Locals and the police reached at the spot and took him to the District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared him as brought dead,” said SDPO Bhaderwah Adil Rishu.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the body of the deceased cop was handed over to family members for last rites, the SDPO added.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Doda Police Station and investigation started, Rishu informed.
