JAMMU, Mar 3: Former Legislator and senior Congress leader, Ashok Sharma, today demanded formulation of a comprehensive Youth Policy in the State to meet the challenge of increasing unemployment in the State. Sharma also urged the Government to review new recruitment policy.
The Congress leader pleaded for filling up all the vacancies available in various departments of the State and strictly enforcing concession in fare to the students while travelling in public transport.
Former Legislator, who was speaking in a day-long convention of Youth Congress in Baljaralan area of Kalakote constituency in Rajouri district, also demanded the Government to form special teams to assess the quantum of loss to the standing crops, orchards, houses and land due to recent heavy rains, snowfall and hailstorm in the State, and accordingly pay compensation to the affected people.
The Congress leader also demanded judicial enquiry into the Rs 200 crore road scam in Rajouri District, alleging that ficitious bills amounting to crores of rupees have been drawn fraudulently either without executing road schemes or drawing excess payments of works taken up without floating tenders. He appealed the Chief Minister, R&B Minister and Chief Secretary for constituting enquiry to fix responsibility and bring the culprits to book.
