RAJOURI, Oct 11: A large number of ASHA workers engaged by the State Health authorities in different blocks of district Rajouri are without salary for the last one year.
The ASHA workers from various blocks of the district thronged the office of CMO Rajouri on Friday and lodged their strong protest. They alleged that the workers engaged under NRHM in various hospitals/ health centers and sub centers in entire district have not been paid their wages for the last over 12 months. Despite repeated representations and memoranda, the District Health and even the Divisional Health authorities have failed to release their wages.
They warned to launch indefinite strike at the district headquarters if their wages were not released within one week. They said it is very unfortunate that even on the Karvachouth festival, the women workers of the department were deprived of their salaries.
