ASCOMS organizes Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists conference

JAMMU, Nov 3: The 15th annual conference of north zone of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital Jammu in association with Jammu Society of Anaesthesiologists.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr S S C Chakra Rao, president Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (National) and presided over by Dr M V Bhimeshwar, honorary secretary of the ISA and H L Maini, vice president ASCOMS.
Dr R P Kudyar, Director Principal ASCOMS extended a warm welcome to all the delegates while Dr M V Bhimeshwar informed the gathering about the functioning of national body of ISA.
Chief guest Dr S S C Chakra Rao, while delivering his address, stressed on the fact that these academic events will definitely help in taking the subject of Anaesthesiology to greater heights.
The scientific event started with hands on workshops on Ultrasound guided blocks, Difficult Airway, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Mechanical Ventilation which were well attended by anaesthesilogists from almost all colleges of north India.
Dr G D Puri from PGI Chandigarh and Dr Baljit Singh from G B Pant Hospital New Delhi, delivered the orations instituted in the honour of legendaries (Late) Dr G L Kamra and Late Dr Pritam Singh.
Various scientific sessions were held and well attended not only by Anaesthesiologists but professionals from other specialties as well. On this occasion a “Best Young Anaesthesiologist Award” was also presented. Prof Harivir Singh Memorial Quiz competition for post graduate students was organized and well appreciated. The highlight of the mega scientific event was a workshop of undergraduate students and interns for CPR which was well attended and appreciated by one and all.
At the end of the conference a valedictory function was organized in which Prof Nandita Mehta, the organizing chairperson, presented a certificate of appreciation to everyone.
Dr Shikha Sharma, organizing secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
