JAMMU, July 23: A free orthopaedic camp was organised at Barnai, Bantalab near here today by Department of Orthopaedics, Acharya Sri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) and Hospital.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal ASCOMS and Hospital.
Around 100 patients with various bone and joint problems were examined by a team of orthopaedic surgeons from ASCOMS hospital. The team was headed by Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Professor and Head of Department of Orthopaedics. The patients were also distributed free medicines. Those who required surgery were advised to report ASCOMS Hospital where surgeries will be done free of cost from August 1 to 7.
The camp was held to mark National Bone and Joint Day which falls on August 4 and is celebrated across the country.
To commemorate this day a week long activities are planned by Indian Orthopaedic Association all over India.
Free orthopaedic camps, surgeries, basic life support course for paramedics, drivers, free BMD camps for awareness about osteoporosis road safety rallies etc are the activities planned for the day.
