Arun asks Congress workers to gear up for forthcoming polls

VIJAYPUR, Jan 6: A meeting of Congress workers, delegates, newly elected Panches and Sarpanches of Vijaypur Assembly constituency was convened at Gurha Morh, here today, under the leadership of senior Congress leader Arun Kumar Sharma.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha as well as Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir besides highlighting several local issues viz-a- viz failure of the local representatives of the Assembly so far.
While addressing the gathering, Arun Sharma exhorted the party workers to strengthen Congress party for overall development of the State and empowerment of people at grass root level. Predicting that Congress would return to power in Jammu and Kashmir as well as at the Centre, he asked the workers to gear up for the forthcoming polls.
Reiterating that he would leave no stone unturned for highlighting the issues of general public of Samba district and general and Vijaypur Assembly constituency in particular, Arun said that he was committed to his people and the party.
Earlier, the delegates, Panches and Sarpanches highlighted the local issues and opined that graph of the Congress had declined in Vijaypur Assembly constituency in the last two decades only because the party did not give mandate to any ground level local worker since 1996 onward. They said that the party cadre was fed up due to the imposition of parashoot candidates and avoiding the party loyalists like Arun Sharma. Some of them even threatened revolt in the party if the Congress loyalists were continued to be ignored in Assembly elections.
