REASI, Apr 8: A joint team of Motor Vehicle and Police departments recovered Rs 56000 fine from traffic violators during 2 day long Naka checking in Katra.
A total of 148 vehicles were challaned/compounded, 4 vehicles were seized and a fine of Rs.56,000 was recovered from the violators on the spot by the team led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer(ARTO) Rajesh Gupta.
The Naka was laid to tighten nose around the violators flouting the traffic rules and indulging in rash driving, overloading and over charging etc.
As per the ARTO, frequent complaints were received regarding the overcharging of fare, skipping prepaid counters and operating without proper documents by the commercial vehicles.
Rajesh Gupta informed that the team laid down the naka for 2 days and booked scores of violators.
The ARTO Reasi also checked the prepaid counters at Railway station and cautioned the 3 wheelers not to overcharge from pilgrims. He also issued a fare list to them to display so that the pilgrims may not face any problem during their visit.
