SAMBA, Sept 17: Motor Vehicle Department has seized 17 vehicles and imposed penalty of Rs 1.20 lakh on traffic rules violators, here.
ARTO Kuldeep Singh along with his team of officials Madan Lal MVI, Chander Mohan Sharma MVI, Sikander Singh and Harbans Sharma conducted extensive checking and imposed penalty of Rs 1.20 lakh on traffic rule violators.
During the drive two Haryana Roadways and Uttaranchal Roadways buses were heavily compounded by the ARTO for plying without valid permits or counter signatures. Number of vehicles were challaned for plying without HSRP, pollution certificate, token tax, valid driving license, permits, overloading and various other violations under the provision of MV Act, 1988.
17 vehicles including 10 trucks and one bus were seized on the spot and kept in Police Station Bari-Brahmana.
ARTO Samba also organized an “Orientation-cum-Interaction Programme” with auto-rickshaw drivers/operators union at New Bus Stand here regarding 100 per cent installation of fare meters and to ensure fare charging as per the notified rates by the Government.
The auto-rickshaw drivers were also directed to wear uniform while driving vehicles and ensure that no fleecing of passengers should be done by any operator. He asked them to visit his office any time for any type of assistance under rules.
During the camp, the auto-rickshaw operators/drivers union also highlighted their problems and ARTO assured that their issues would be projected before District Administration for consideration and appropriate action.
