RAJOURI, Feb 5: ARTO Rajouri today launched doorstep facility of driving licenses and Registration certificates in district Rajouri. The drive was launched in presence of ARTO and Superintendent Post Office, Rajouri, Ravi Sharma along with staff of MVD and Post Office. The MVD today handed over 61 DLs to Post Office management and requested them to ensure early and safe delivery
Meanwhile as many as 127 drivers underwent health checkup as the Motor Vehicle Department Rajouri launched the “road safety week” awareness across the district.
The health check-up camp was jointly organized by the motor vehicle and health department at Bus Stand Rajouri, where 127 drivers of the Rajouri Poonch route and the local had come for a health check-up.
While speaking on the occasion, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Neeraj Sharma said that most of the drivers are overworked due to long hours and are not at their best when it comes to fitness. He advised them that paying attention to their health is crucial to the safety of other road users. Road safety week is a national event aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately to reduce casualties due to road accidents. He also persuaded the drivers and another present on the occasion to abide by the traffic rules and laws while driving because every life is precious.
Medical superintendent District Hospital Rajouri, Mehmood Hussain Bajar, said a special team of doctors conducted the health checkup which includes, blood sugar, eyesight, colorblindness, blood pressure. He highlighted the importance of regular health checkups and importance of taking rest at regular interval. He also advised drivers for using the seat belt, exercising restraint in the speed limit, avoiding the use of mobile phones may reduce the road accidents drastically.
Later free medicines were also distributed among the drivers and cleaners.
Inspector Motor Vehicle Department Rajiv Basin and Aslam Pervaiz were also present on the occasion.
