Art 370 Abrogation: Sec 144 remains imposed, markets partially open in Jammu

JAMMU: Jammu on Thursday witnessed hustle bustle as markets were partially opened amid restrictions under section 144 of CrPC remained in force post Abrogation of Article 370 and Reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
Although restrictions were not officially lifted by the district Administration but the markets were seen partially open.
People rushed to the market to purchase essential commodities.
Meanwhile government offices, banks also witnessed attendance after almost four days but all private and government educational institutions remained closed till further orders.
Sources however, in the district Administration said that the schools and colleges may be reopened only after Independence Day.
The University of Jammu also remained shut.
Commercial transport remained off road but private vehicles including two wheelers and cars were seen plying on the road.
An overall situation remained peaceful in the district.
There were no reports of any untoward incident from any part of the Jammu Division.(agencies)
