JAMMU, Sept 14: Former Minister and senior PCC leader Mohd Sharief Niaz has said that Article 35-A guarantees preservation of identity, culture and safeguards peace and tranquility in the J&K State.
Niaz told the visiting AICC delegation led by former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh that economic condition of the State was not good and there prevails political and economical uncertainty in J&K. Niaz, a former CLP leader further said that there was a revolution in the field of development during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Militancy was totally curtailed, peace and prosperity was prevailing in the State . But with the emergence of Modi Govt at the Centre and BJP-PDP Government in State , no steps have been taken for the development of country and solving the day to day problems being faced by the public. Rather, present dispensation raised controversial issues exploiting majority against minority, ignoring unity and integrity of nation.
Niaz said that they create controversial issues in order to divert attention of public from misgovernance and failure of Government on all fronts. The projects which have been inaugurated lately were either completed or were under execution since Congress Government.
PCC leader further said that lately BJP and RSS has been exploiting Article 370 and Article 35- A of Indian Constitution demanding abrogation of those articles. He said that BJP and RSS are demanding abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A with this plea that this Article is temporary. Niaz said that if this Article which is instrument of accession of J&K with India is temporary according to right wings then they are emphasizing the fact that the accession is also temporary. Niaz said that Article 370 is bridge between J&K State and India and if this bridge is broken, then the instrument of accession will be null and void.
Niaz said that due to vision of Maharaja Hari Singh and enforcement of Article 35 A there is guarantee of preservation of identity, culture, civilization, communal harmony in State . And in case Article 35 A is abrogated then within few years millions of people from different parts of country will settle in State. Besides, there will be huge pressure on colleges, universities, hospitals, roads, transport, electricity and environment. Niaz said at present Article 35 A is sub judicious and we should wait for the decision of the Apex Court.
