Arnia residents protest against PDD

JAMMU, June 7: The residents of Arnia and adjoining areas today held a protest against PDD for not restoring the power supply in the area even after three days of wind storm.
A large number of people including women and children from Suhagpur and Arnia assembled near main town Arnia and blocked the road heading towards Jammu. In protest against Power Development Department (PDD), the shopkeepers also closed down their business establishments.
While speaking on the occasion, one of the protesters, Bharat Bhushan Saini said that there is no power supply in Suhagpur for the last three days as three days ago the wind storm had uprooted power poles, which have not been restored yet.
Stating that RS Pura MLA Dr Gagan Bhagat restored power supply in RS Pura areas within four hours after getting erected, the protesting people said that MLA of their area has not taken any clue of power supply in the area even after three days time.
Later senior officials of police reached the spot and assured the people that transformer will be installed soon. On their assurance people lifted the road blockade.
