MAHORE, June 5: With the initiative of Army, MSME Department of the State will start a training programme for women of remote areas of Reasi under which they will be trained in making Jute Bags.
In September last year, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform), took up the case of women empowerment with the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department of the State Government to undertake certain projects in Mahore Sub Division, approached Director MSME, Verender Sharma and the project of ‘Imparting Knowledge of Jute Bag Making for Women’ was identified.
A total of 20 women were identified from the remote areas who would undergo this programme with the help of Rubina Akhtar, a 24-year old woman, who has been selected by the department as the representative of MSME in Mahore. She registered herself as a teacher on June 3, 2013 in Jammu with MSME and would conduct the classes on Jute Bag Making. She will be getting a handsome stipend from the Government for her efforts.
Earlier, in March 2010, Rubina joined a knitting and sewing class run at Nari Niketan by the RR Battalion, based at Sarh and in just over a year, she was instrumental in running the Nari Niketan herself for which she was receiving a small stipend from the Army.
It will be a great success story in Mahore as all the women who would undergo the programme, would stand a chance to be picked up by the department for a job.
