Army prepared to meet any eventuality in Kashmir

SRINAGAR :  The Army has constituted three Composite Rescue Groups of Infantry (CRGI) teams to respond to any eventuality in the event of flood in the Kashmir valley.    Defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel N N Joshi said the  Army has taken a number of steps to meet any challenge of flood.    He said a number of Company Operating Bases (COBs) had also been constituted. Each COB has a column earmarked ready to meet any eventuality.
He said three composite rescue groups comprising Infantry, Engineers , EME and Army Medical Corps are located at Badami Bagh Cantonment, Old Airfield and Zanakot. Boats and duty pumps are also deployed at low-lying areas.    All local units are providing necessary assistance to the nearby villages specially those which are cut off.    Meanwhile, GoC 15 Corps Lt General Subrata Saha yesterday briefed Governor N N Vohra about the measures taken to provide help and assistance provided by the Army to civil administration to deal with the situation.    Lt Gen Saha had aerial view of the south Kashmir yesterday.  (AGENCIES)
