Army person among three arrested for murdering driver

JAMMU, July 6: Three persons including an army person have been arrested for murdering driver in tehsil Akhnoor.
As per police sources, body of a driver identified as Sohal Lal alias Sonu, son of Romesh Lal, a resident of Bharda Kalan, tehsil Akhnoor was found from village Phacarwan with severe head injury.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor, where after conducting autopsy, the body was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under relevant sections was registered at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation it came to fore that the deceased was murdered by his three friends including an army person with a blunt object over some trivial issue at village Bharda Kalan.
The accused later shifted the body of the deceased in a car to village Phacarwan on Maira Mandra road in tehsil Akhnoor to dodge the police of their involvement in the murder.
Acting swiftly, a team from police station Akhnoor conducted raid and arrested all the three accused, who have been identified as Suresh Kumar (army person), Anshul Choudhary and Satish Sharma, trio residents of Akhnoor. The car used in the offence was also seized by the police.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinder Pal Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
However, the family members and relatives of the deceased also held protest at Nirdoush Chowk and demanded stringent action against the accused.
