Army pays homage to soldier killed in north Kashmir encounter

 

SRINAGAR:Army today paid homage to Sepoy Samod Kumar, who was killed in an encounter with militants in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on October 28, 2015.

Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel N N Joshi here today said in a befitting tribute to a martyred hero, “the Army today paid homage to Sepoy Samod Kumar, who had laid down his life while fighting militants in Bandipora on October 28.”

The late Soldier was part of the Army team that had launched an operation in Bhutoo forest area of Bandipora district, he said.

He said, “in Chinar Corps Commander Lt General Satish Dua saluted the valour and sacrifice of Sepoy Kumar by laying wreath on behalf of all ranks of the Corps in a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment.”

As a mark of honour and pride for the brave soldier, floral tributes were also paid on behalf of the Northern Army Commander, he added. (UNI)
