Army organizes ‘North Tech Symposium’

UDHAMPUR, Sept 8: A two-day technology seminar and exhibition, ‘North Tech Symp-osium’, was organized under the aegis of Headquarters Northern Command of Udhampur.
The event was conceived to facilitate interaction between the Defence industry, R&D establishments and the military and users. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from DRDO, DPSUs and private industry, academia and officers and men of Northern Command.
The symposium provided a platform to the industry, equipment manufacturers/ system integrators and DRDO to showcase their products. Concurrently, it also enabled Army units with an insight into indigenously developed technologies, available to enhance their operational capabilities.
North Tech Symposium was inaugurated by Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command. He lauded participation by the industry in showcasing novel and emerging technologies and equipment encompassing a diverse technology spectrum. He also released the Event Flyer and the Symposium CD to commemorate the event.
A seminar on ‘Spectrum of Opportunities through Tailor-made Technology Solutions to Facilitate Boots on Ground’, with an objective to harness opportunities for domestic industry and enabling procurement of equipment for end use by the soldier was organized. An exhibition on Tailor -made Solutions for Soldier Readiness was also conducted during the day and augmented relevance of the seminar.
An Exhibition on defence products and technologies with the theme of ‘Enhancing Combat Potential through Technology Based Solutions to meet Operational Challenges in Modern Warfare was major highlight of the event . Officer and men from the Army and Air Force witnessed elaborate display of military technologies and equipment by 90 participating entities from DRDO, DPSUs and private defence industry.
