Army organizes medical, veterinary camp

Srinagar, Sept 6: Army organized a medical-cum-veterinary camp in a remote village of border district of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
A defence spokesman said the camp was organized at Muhri village of the district to provide on the spot treatment, free medicines and specialist advice to the villagers of Muhri and surrounding areas.
“A number of civil dignitaries and State Government officials also attended the event. The event evoked phenomenal response wherein large number of locals with their livestock turned up for the medical assistance,” the spokesman said. He said a joint medical team of army, civil doctors and six nursing assistants from the departments of medicine, surgery and dental attended to the patients.
“A total of 655 (283 males, 219 females, 153 children) general patients were rendered medical services. “This occasion was also utilized to handover four tricycles to the needy handicap personnel to help them achieving their aspirations,” he said.
The veterinary camp was also conducted where in medical services to about 500 livestock were rendered.  “Awareness lectures were also conducted for the farmers to maximize dairy and wool products by exploiting technology in animal husbandry,” the defence spokesman added.
