RAJOURI, May 19: Army organized an ex-servicemen rally at Kalakote to acquaint the retired defence personnel and their families with the latest State and Central Government policies and welfare schemes.
The event helped in understanding the requirements of the Ex-servicemen in a holistic manner.
Over 300 Ex-servicemen and `Veer Naris’ from the region attended the rally. Several Government officials including Addl SP Nowshera GL Sharma, Tehsildar, Principal Degree College Kalakote Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma, SHO Kalakote Tahir Khan were also present on the occasion and held detailed interaction with the Ex-servicemen and heard their grievances.
Various Government and Commercial stalls including Medical Camp, Ex-Servicemen Grievances Cell, ECHS Help Line, Recruitment Information Centre, Handicraft and Women Empowerment enclosure, Banking Awareness Counter (SBI and J&K Bank) and CSD extension counter catering to the awareness and basic needs of the locals were established.
ECHS Officer addressed the Ex-Servicemen and highlighted the various Welfare Schemes for Ex-servicemen and `Veer Naris’ by the State and Central Governments. Various disputes of pensioners regarding post retirement / death benefits, Ex-gratia benefits for battle casualties and career opportunities for Ex-servicemen wards were discussed.
The event was appreciated by the veterans as an appropriate platform to address grievances of Ex-servicemen and their families. They also lauded the efforts of Army towards maintaining irreversible peace and harmony in the region.
