SRINAGAR, May 25: A National integration event titled, “Mera Desh, Meri Pehchaan” was organized at Govt Degree College, Kupwara by Pune based NGO, Lakshya Foundation in collaboration with Indian Army.
The unique programme was designed at giving the youth of Kashmir an exposure to the diverse and rich culture of the country. The event commenced in Apr 2022 with various online & offline activities. As a part of this program, 15 youth were provided an opportunity to undergo a German language course by Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi wherein they learnt basic skills of German language.
Four youth showcased their prowess over the language during the Grand Finale. 26 women from various parts of Kupwara participated in a unique Khana Khajana competition, wherein they learnt to prepare cuisines from different states. Six participants were adjudged as winners. 36 students as part 12 teams participated in a Quiz competition. After various elimination rounds, eight were chosen for the Grand Finale.
The events on May 24 commenced with over 2000 children from 40 schools from various parts of Kupwara including Tangdhar, Machhail, Keran witnessing and experiencing a unique National integration based exhibition. The children were introduced to six states through theme based ‘State Enclosures’, in which they learnt about culture, art, dance, personalities, cuisines, traditions, festivals, etc.
The children thereafter, participated in team building games. The batches were then led to the auditorium to attend a motivational and patriotic audio visual presentation-cum-speech by Anuradha Prabhudesai, Founder president, Lakshya Foundation.
The finale on May 25 was graced by GOC, Vajr Division along with civil dignitaries. The guests were welcomed by Anuradha followed by felicitation of all the finalists and winners. The German language course participants showcased their talent, while a dance performance based on the music of different states was presented by students of AGS, Wayne.
The GOC appreciated the participants for their wonderful display and assured them all possible assistance. He also appreciated Lakshya Foundation for its efforts in reaching out to youth in border areas.
