RAJOURI, Oct 5: An Army personal was killed in a road accident in Sunderbani area of district Rajouri late this evening.
Reports said the mishap took place when a motorcycle collided with a truck in Rasalyot area of Sunderbani. The incident occurred at the same spot where, a few days ago, an elderly man and his grandson had died in a car accident.
The deceased has been identified as Romi Sharma, son of Ramesh Chander, a resident of Rasalyot. He was serving in the Indian Army and was currently on leave at his home.
As per initial information, the accident took place around 9:30 PM when Romi Sharma was returning home from Bhambla on his motorcycle, which reportedly had no registration number. On his way, his bike collided with a truck (Registration No. JK12C-5661) coming from the opposite direction.
Following the accident, locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani, where Block Medical Officer Dr Meena Kumari confirmed that he was brought dead. The body was kept at the hospital for postmortem, which will be conducted in the morning. Police has taken cognizance.
