SAMBA, Sept 7 : An Army personnel committed suicide by shooting himself from his service rifle in Maheshwar area of district Samba today. The deceased was identified as Jasvir Singh, 34, who was serving in 25 Punjab Unit of the Indian Army and was posted in Maheshwar, Samba.
The Army has started investigation in the matter. At present, the cause of suicide has not been ascertained. According to sources, on the night of 6/7 September, Jasvir Singh turned his service rifle on his body and pressed the trigger. He died on the spot.
After getting the information, the Army’s top officials took the dead body of the deceased under their custody. The body has been kept in MH Maheshwar. They said body will be handed over to the family for last rites.
The Samba police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard.
