Army imparts skill training to 95 border area boys, girls

NOWSHERA, Sept 18: Army authorities provided skill development training to 95 boys and girls, hailing from border (LoC) area of Lam in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
The purpose was to empower the educated/ less educated youth including young girls of this remote border belt to raise their economic condition. To impart skill training, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Indian Army conducted skill development courses under `Sadhbhavana Project’ in the month of July and August.
The Army provided driving training to 15 local youth including six females and nine males, organised cutting and tailoring training course for 20 girls/women, beautician course for 20 girls, mobile repairing course for 20 boys and plumbing training 20 male trainees.
The civil trainers certified by NSDC were hired by the the Army battalion in Lam sector to train the youth. The local youth of  forward area have been trained in their respective aspects which will provide them assistance in seeking self- employment through various government schemes.
A defence spokesman said that the courses were conducted for both male and female from the border area belonging to economically poor background. The aim of this training was to empower the local youth and make them efficient for skilled related jobs thereby, giving confidence to lead an independent life.
During certificate distribution function in Nowshera sector today, Brigadier P Acharya told that this is beginning and more such steps will be taken for the people of border area and every efforts will be made to provide  training to unemployed youth particularly to females so that they can earn their livelihood.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch and locals of the area said that the various initiatives taken by the Army, especially for the empowerment of local girls and youth, will assist in the over all development of this backward area.
