Army guns down infiltrator in Nowshera

JAMMU, May 7: Army today gunned down an infiltrator on the Line of Control (LoC) in Lam area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district and thwarted an intrusion bid by the militants.
Reports said the Army intercepted militants trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory in Lam area and opened firing to neutralize the militants.
During brief exchange of firing, one infiltrator was gunned down by the troops. His body has been recovered from the spot along with some items.
There were no casualties on the Army side, sources said.
Number of the militants couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Sources said searches will resume tomorrow morning.
Unconfirmed reports, however, said that number of militants could be three and two others might have escaped after killing of one of their colleagues in the gun battle by the troops.
More recoveries are likely to be made from the spot during fresh searches tomorrow morning as some bags were spotted lying on the LoC during the night.
