Srinagar, June 6: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said the militants are trying to sabotage the Ramadhan ceasefire announced by the Central Government while Army foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector of North Kashmir.

Mehbooba said that the ceasefire was bringing relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She hoped that the militants realize futility of their actions soon. “Even as we see the ceasefire bringing great relief to the people of J&K, militants seem to be continuing their violent activities & desperately trying to sabotage the process. I only hope that they realise the futility of their actions soon,” she tweeted.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came a night after the militants launched an attack on an Army camp in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
And Army today foiled an infiltration bid by killing three militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.
Sources said that troops of 17 JAKLI deployed at forward posts along the LoC in Khanbal near Roshni Post in Macchil sector noticed the movement of militants and challenged them early today.
Sources said that three members of the group are still in the area and Army has launched massive operation. They said that during the searches of the area, the troops have recovered three AK-47 rifles, 14 magazines, 401 AK-47 rounds of ammunition, one Chinese pistol, two pistol magazines, 40 pistol rounds, one UBGL, 5 UBGL grenades, 4 GPS, 3 maps, 2 kg dry fruits, 94 pencil cells, four lighters, one Cello tape, 4 blankets, 4 mufflers, four rain coats, four rucksacks, Rs 40 Pak currency, Rs 45000 Indian currency, 3 RS with antenna, three ammunition pouches, six grenades, one communication set, one wire cutter, three knives, 4 code word charts, three mobiles, 3 data cables, 3 mobile chargers, four adapters, two compasses and one binocular so far.
Srinagar based Defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that the infiltration bid was foiled in Macchil sector. “Three infiltrators were killed and the search operation in the area is going on,” he said.
Army says that over 250 militants are waiting on the launch pads along the LoC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) for infiltration. The Army deployed along the LoC is alert and conducting regular patrols to foil such attempts. They have also intensified the counter infiltration grid.
