Army felicitates RS Pura villagers for support

JAMMU, Dec 9: A felicitation event was organised by the Army at village Pindi (R S Pura) to honour the sacrifice and contribution of the local population during the anti- terrorist operation on November 27-28.
The operation resulted in eliminating four hard core terrorists and recovery of huge amount of arms, ammunition, explosives and other indiscriminating material.
The operation was successful due to wholehearted and daring cooperation from the villagers of Pindi, Kathar, Ala, Nandpur and Khour. Brave heart “Jagruk Hindustani” of village Pindi displayed courage, initiative and sense of duty by informing about the suspected terrorists in Army uniform and alerted the Army post nearby. This assisted in eliminating all the four terrorists.
“Jagruk Hindustani” was felicitated by Lt Gen KJ Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command with the Western Command Army Commander’s Commend-ation Card in presence of General Officer Commanding Rising Corps Star and General Officer Commanding Tiger Division. During this, the family members of the martyred civilians were also present. Army Commander during his address and interaction thanked the villagers for standing shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army. He further conveyed that a Sadbhavana Project for the benefit of the five villages would be implemented soon.
In a show of solidarity and partnership with the people of the border belt, Army personnel had attended the funeral of the five civilians who were killed by the terrorists on November 27, 2014.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sarpanch of Ala village Balbir Singh and Sarpanch of Pindi village, thanked the Army for felicitating local villager.
