SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Army has established two bakery units in North Kashmir’s Sopore and Bandipora areas in its efforts to enhance the employment avenues for the youth of the Valley.
A defence spokesman said the units were established at Zalura village of Sopore and Aloosa village of Bandipora. “Both the units are equipped with all machineries to produce finished product, which can be sold in various parts of the Valley and outside,” he said.
The spokesman said the two bakery units will provide employment to eight youths, four per bakery. “The youth were earlier trained in baking at Srinagar through Operation Sadhbhavana and provided monthly income. There are plans to further give boost to this initiative by establishing more such units in future,” he said.
The inaugural function was attended by the village elders, prominent personalities, members of Aseem Foundation and the Watlab Army Garrison Commander.
