SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Army today said it distributed computers and accessories under the aegis of the Chinar Corps to various schools in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts.
A defence spokesman said the computers and accessories were distributed at Government Boys High School Sonwar, Government Middle School Bugam Pahroo, Government High School Manchow and Government Girls High School Pandrethan.
“The distribution was carried out by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Gulam Mohd Bhat in a simple yet impressive ceremony held at Government Middle School Manchow organised by army.The aim of the distribution of computers is to provide the basic knowledge of computer and enhance the computer literacy among local populace.
The spokesman said that ZEO Gulam Mohd Bhatt emphasized the need for educating student in computer skills to confront the technical and educational challenges lying ahead.
The defence spokesman said: “The availability of the computers at Government High School Sonwar, Government Middle School Bugam, Middle School Manchow and Pandrethan will open numerous opportunities for knowledge and advancement of higher education.”
